Posted in Graphic Design, Photography on November 25th, 2009 by admin – Be the first to commentWent out to search for some cool places to take pictures around my town. Diamond Bar has many hills and high places that have pretty good views.
Be sure to click on the images to enlarge them! I just installed the super trendy Lightbox plug-in so now it doesn’t link to my ugly flickr page.
The first two pictures are from a strangers backyard that we snuck into. (Okay, not really… but maybe.)
The rest were done at my old high school. It was cool to not be hassled by anyone and I think a lot of these shots came out great.
And finally, the picture that I felt came out the best. I felt like I successfully captured what I really saw.

Event Planning Logo Exploration

Photography Tests Over The Weekend
Posted in Graphic Design, Photography on November 9th, 2009 by admin – Be the first to commentThis weekend was great because I got to celebrate my 4 year anniversary with my lovely lady. Cooked up awesome food which was home made fettucini alfredo with bacon, fillet mignon and asparagus. Wish I had taken pictures, but totally forgot and got caught up in the moment.
On Sunday, my buddy Antonio came by to practice some photography with off camera lighting. These were the best pictures that came out before one of the peices of equipment we were using decided to break. You can click on them for a bigger view.
Japanese Woodblock Print Style Food Poster
Posted in Graphic Design, Illustration, School on November 6th, 2009 by admin – Be the first to commentFor my digital illustration class, our latest project was to design and illustrate a food or beverage poster in the style of Japanese woodblock prints. We also had to make a statement about the food and relate it to the illustration.

I should also mention that we were to “color” in the illustration using only photographs. We could of course adjust the hues and saturations accordingly along with dodging and burning.
Bigguu Macccuuuuu
Along with making a new blog comes trying to sort through past artwork that I want to post. Here is my first project for digital illustration, which was to illustrate a technical drawing of sorts for an imaginary product of our choice. Mother fucking guitar-gun, bitch!

And here is my second project, which was a travel poster for a ficticious land. I was assigned Wonderland. I have never seen the movie, but I had an idea of how it looked like. I took inspirating from a Rockett t-shirt I have designed by Sockmonkee which has large, psychadelic mushrooms on it.

A major critique I got for this particular project was that the type for the word “Hallucination” at the bottom of the poster is flat, plain and boring. I must agree, and I will be redoing before my semester ends.
Now we are all caught up with my digital illustration class!
Norton Simon Museum Logo Designs
Posted in Graphic Design, Illustration, School, Typography on November 6th, 2009 by admin – Be the first to commentFor my Graphic Design A class, my professor had us start on rebranding a local museum for a brochure project we are going to be working on. I chose the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena to do my project on, pimarily because I have to go there anyways later this week to do a research project for an art history class.
Here are the 5 designs I quickly did in class.

Some things should be tweaked a bit, such as some kerning issues, spatial and contrast relationships. (I must admit, I spent a good amount of time in class obsessing over some photography lighting.)
We had also gotten back our first project, which was a color theory book cover design. The assignment was to research a well known color theory and theorist and take elements of the theory (diagrams, ideas) and come up with a design that illustrated the theory.

The particular color theorist I did the project on was Moses Harris. I’d go into more detail about his theory, but there is always google to help you with that. =) Besides, I have to finish replacing information on this book here at work.
